Recharged for the autumn

This summer is soon over. At least here in Sweden it's starting to feel like autumn with 15-degree Celsius days.

In my adult life, this year I took a record number of weeks of vacation: 8 weeks in total. I spent 2 of them with my wife and our less than 1-year-old daughter going on a road trip from Sweden to Italy, spending time in Denmark, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and France. 3 weeks we spent driving to and within Ukraine, with stops in Poland on the way. And the final 3 weeks of vacation I'm currently enjoying at home – resting and doing day trips to the forest, Ikea, some events, and more.

It has been great to have had a break from the regular work projects. To get new thoughts, ideas and perspectives, and to spend time with my family.

During the summer I have had time to experiment with some new tech. Otherwise, during the regular work weeks, I don't find much time for that. But this summer I have bought and built a home server; installed Debian, Tailscale, Coolify and some Docker-based applications on it, like this Ghost-based blog; started to use Jj (Jujutsu) as a Git replacement; cleaned up my notes in Obsidian; started a new todo setup; coded on some side projects; played with Claude Code; etc.

It has been great to have had a break from the regular routines. And now I feel motivated for this autumn and what's to come.
